Write-Back Server is an on-premises extension that allows you to take Tableau usage further and implement use cases where you need users to input data, such as forecasting, planning, adding comments, or any actionable process. This is all done in an agile way but fully controlled and secured, including features like on-premise execution, audit, multiple back-end databases and integrated authentication.

All this is easily configured in the Write-Back manager, which lets you do a production configuration or simply run a trial in a few minutes.

With one Write-Back license, you can implement as many use cases as you want and use the product across all the dashboards you need.

There are already more than 80 Customers, in over 15 countries, using Write-Back. Amazon, Vanguard, Optum, Kraft Heinz, Collins Aerospace, and Bayer are some companies taking advantage of Write-Back and making Tableau dashboards actionable.

How to Access:

1. Log in to Tableau with the following credentials:
   • User: user1
   • Password: write-back-demo
     
2. Choose your use case and navigate to the dashboard where Write-Back is embedded. Use the same credentials to access and interact with the Write-Back.

Please remember that this is a public environment, hosted by Write-Back and shared publicly. Any data submitted by the users on the extension will be stored on Write-Back's database. Do not upload any relevant data.

Usability – Stay in the flow

You don’t need to know coding or SQL to use this tool. Write-Back enables you to do the whole process through a UI, from setup to data submission and configuring your own datasets.

Additionally, is also possible to upload data from an Excel file directly to a data set, making the bulk insert process much easier. Simply download a template fill it in and upload your data.

Both dashboard creators and dashboard viewers can easily use Write-Back in an agile way.

Security & Audit track – Keep your data secure and audited

Write-Back is regularly submitted to penetration tests in addition to being developed and updated following industry best practices regarding security.

Write-Back is deployed on your infrastructure, using your database and does not require internet access. This means that no one outside the organization will have any access to the server or database, guaranteeing the security of all data submitted through the product.

Authentication mechanisms are assured, manage access in a simple and effortless way. The following mechanisms are supported: Active Directory / LDAP; Tableau Server; SAML Single-Sign-On; OpenID Single-Sign-On and Kerberos.

It also provides an authorization mechanism, that allows you to define which role users will have when interacting with Write-Back.

Finally, any action on Write-Back regarding data or configuration is audited, so you can always keep track of who did what and when.

Databases & Write-Back Manager - Use your database of choice

You typically want your datasets side by side with your existing data that will be used on Tableau data sources. This will provide the best experience to your users and increase performance when joins are necessary.

To achieve this, you can configure Write-Back to store datasets on your database of choice; Write-Back supports many technologies such as SQL Server, MySQL, Postgre SQL, Redshift, Oracle, Snowflake, BigQuery, and more.

Besides, everything from basic configuration to theme customization is possible in the Write-Back Manager, a web environment that guides you through the process.

Releases

Write-Back is continuously being improved, we aim to release Write-Back major versions every 4 months, where new features are added, and minor versions in between. The bug will always be fixed as soon as possible after being identified. We are very sensitive to our customers' feedback and whenever a suggestion or request makes sense to incorporate into the product, we try to prioritize its implementation in the next release.
